Munster Le Prefere
by Gourmet Food Store (Misc.)
Munster cheese is a classic from the region of Alsace, France. The particularity of this cheese comes from the special cows used for it's production, Vosgiennes cows, animals that migrated from Scandinavia in the 1700s - so Munster is perhaps part Scandinavian as well as French? Characterized by a potently tangy and robust flavor, and a smooth yellowish interior covered with reddish-orange rind, this cheese pairs well with a good brew - beer drinkers, rejoice!
French Cheese Munster le Prefere d'Alsace 7.7 oz.
by JustCaviar (Misc.)
Munster le prefere d'Alsace Semi - cow's milk soft cheese - 7.7 oz/230 gr, France. The chief characteristics of this french cheese are firstly the pungent smell, and secondly the soft, smooth paste, with the consistency of melting chocolate. The rind is brick-red, and the paste is fine textured and golden, slightly sticky, and sweet, with the flavor of rich milk, as long as the cheese has been properly matured. Locally, the Munster cheese is eaten with cumin or potatoes boiled with their skins on. Cumin-flavored munster may be bought ready-made. Appropriate wines: Gewurtzstraminer, Tokay, Pinot Gris. Percentage of Fat: 50%

Gres des Vosges
by Gourmet Food Store (Misc.)
This Alsatian cheese is similar to the classic Munster, yet a little smoother and elastic, and much more pliable. Very yeasty, Gres des Vosges is also remarkably mild, making it a complex cheese that nonetheless manages to retain its simplicity and subtlety of flavor. You'll find that this is perfect for all palates, so it will go nicely on a cheese board. Adorned with a fresh fern sprig on the top for presentation and flair. Supple and elastic, and slightly on the creamy side. Cow's milk. Wine Pairing: Riesling.

Oltermanni by Finlandia (1.1 Pound) by igourmet.com
by igourmet (Misc.)
Oltermanni is the first and only cheese of its kind, now available in the US. A delightfully smooth, mild and creamy cheese with a tangy yet gentle taste, Finlandia (its manufacturer) refers to it as a "Baby Muenster". However, we don't agree with that description. Whereas Muenster is usually a bland, flavorless block of goo found in the deli case, Oltermanni is packed with a delicious buttery flavor. A Finnish favorite, Oltermanni's unique cylindrical shape is perfect for entertaining, making it a stand-out on cheese platters. It has fruity hints, making it a natural pairing for plums, grapes, apricots or pears. Enjoy it with a smooth Merlot or Pinot Grigio.
